A website to promote the work of the Simply Kitts Foundation - a memorial fund benefitting Illustration students at the Kansas City Art Institute
SimplyKitts is a foundation promoting the work and education of Illustration students at the Kansas City Art Institute through a fund established in honor of Kayleigh "Kitt" Van Hassel, a KCAI Illustration Alumnus.
They reached out to Two Bit Consulting needing help to build a website that they had started several years earlier.The SimplyKitts Foundation had a placeholder website and had a WordPress site started, but far from complete. Due to lack of time and the effort involved, the site had remained an unchecked "to do" for far too long.
We helped the SimplyKitts Foundation by building a new WordPress-based website using the structure that had already been established and a look and feel that complimented Kitt's aesthetic. The foundation wanted to be able to manage the website on their own once it went live, so we built a sustainable and easy to understand platform and provided them with documentation to refer to for help when needed. We also worked with the foundation to develop a WooCommerce-based shop for the site to raise funds for the student grants.
We styled the site to complement, but not overwhelm, the aesthetic of Kitt Van Hassel with pastel pinks, greens, and blues and somewhat whimsical font choices.
Since the foundation wanted to be able to edit and manage the site and shop on their own, WordPress and WooCommerce were a natural fit. They already had the hosting and domain lined up, so once we had access, we built the site for them.
After years of a placeholder site and an intention to finally finish the WordPress site with little time or energy to actually do so, we provided a fully functioning website featuring the work of the foundation, Kitt's artwork, and an eCommerce shop to raise additional funds for the foundation.
